Carl Christensen, MD PhD, FACOG, CRMO, ABAM

Dr. Christensen has been an Associate at Pain Recovery Solutions since 2005. He is Board Certified in Addiction Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Gynecologic Oncology and is a Certified Medical Review Officer (MRO). He specializes in the treatment of chronic pain, including chronic pelvic pain, and co-occurring pain and chemical dependency. He also specializes in the safe treatment of chronic pain and chemical dependency during pregnancy. He works with patients with chemical dependency using medication assistance, especially to prevent withdrawal in pregnant patients.

Dr Christensen received his MD in 1979 from Wayne State University. He completed a postdoctoral NIH fellowship and a PhD in Biochemistry following his graduation. He then did his OB Gyn residency at Hutzel Hospital and his Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship at Duke University. He is on staff at the Detroit Medical Center, St Joseph Mercy Hospital, and St John’s Brighton Hospital.

Dr Christensen is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Wayne State University School of Medicine. He is the Associate Residency Director and Associate Clerkship Director in the OB Gyn Department. He is the current President of the Michigan Society of Addiction Medicine and the Vice Chairman of the Michigan Health Professional Recovery Corporation, which oversees the Michigan Health Professional Recovery Program.
